Suksri Chatapa

Abstract

The research results were found that the problems of the service offered by shipping agents are caused by their lack of following up the update information about import-export policies and their lack of knowledge about the import and export documents. In addition, they are lacking in in-depth and precise knowledge of the custom tariffs. Moreover, the problems are also caused by their lack of oratorical skills by using sweet and pleasant words, no response to the client contacts for the data inquiry, requesting for on very few days the freetime (the period of time offered by Carrier for the storage of the goods without charges) offering to the clients, their lack of monitoring during the opened or unsealed type inspection, the submission of incorrect declaration forms, the delay of the follow-up in the process according to the 04 status of the declaration forms. Four Sangkhahawatthus comprising Dana, Piyavaca, Atthacariya and Samanattata are the moralities that bind people’s hearts as a way to create the love and to build positive relationships with others, namely the Doctrinal Principles which are considered the hearts of the service. As for the relevant Dhamma principles, it consists of Satisampajannam: a morality to remind the people to stay mindful and to control themselves to be well behaved, Four Gharavasadhammas : the Dhamma principles for those who want the career advancement, Four Brahmaviharas : a morality to encourage the people to help and support one another, and Four Iddhipadas : a morality for job and career success. In order to solve the said problems of the shipping services, the Four Sangkhahawatthus should be applied to enhance the shipping service qualities as follows: 1) Dana : the shipping agents should give correct information and suggestions to the clients acquired by searching information from related websites and attending trainings held by the import-export academic institutes, and should offer services with sincerity. 2) Piyavaca : the shipping agents should offer them the good services by using sweet and pleasant words with politeness. The shipping agents should also provide the information to the clients in time and should not keep them
waiting for a long time. 3) Atthacariya : the shipping agents should help them to protect the benefts in term of costs and expenses, and to monitor the opened or unsealed type inspection process to secure their goods in a proper condition. 4) Samanattata : the shipping agents should always check the correctness of the declaration forms, should quickly follow up the process according to the 04 status declaration forms for the clients after the Export Customs Clearance as well as regularly employ these above-mentioned 3 elements of the Four Sangkhahawatthus, thereby enhancing the quality of the shipping services, and continuously attracting the more clients. Moreover, when the clients have experienced good services, they will also recommend the particular shipping agency to their friends and association, and this will bring more clients accordingly.
